School Psychologist

The Norwich City School District seeks a Psychologist for a probationary position, beginning September 5, 2023.  The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to: 

  • Lead psychological testing and interpretation, including maintaining accurate scheduling and records, assigning and interfacing with other testers as needed, and communicating with referral sources about these matters.

  • Collaborate with all members of the treatment team, especially classroom teachers, to share test results and interpretations as they pertain to each child’s emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning with the purpose of creating an integrated treatment approach. Collaboration includes communication with families and referral sources about each child’s particular strengths, weaknesses, and needs.

  • Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with colleagues, students, and the broader community.

  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

Agriculture Teacher

The Norwich City School District is seeking an Agriculture Teacher for a probationary, tenure track position beginning September 2024. The successful candidate will possess an ability to:

School Social Worker

The Norwich City School District seeks a certified school social worker to join our highly collaborative team, with a start date of September 1, 2023. This is a probationary appointment which leads to a tenure track in school social work.  The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to: 

  • Connect, inspire and empower all staff in interactions

  • Adhere to our systematic MTSS and referral processes that support students

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers on behavior intervention and the creation of student success plans

  • Create group sessions with students needing Tier 3 interventions based on data

Cleaner/Groundskeeper (2nd Shift)

Job Summary:

The Cleaner/Groundskeeper position requires working knowledge of materials and equipment used in the cleaning of buildings including solvents and other chemicals; ability to operate a variety of equipment relative to cleaning activities including dry and wet vacuums, carpet cleaners and floor strippers/buffers; ability to read labels and instructions relative to safe use of chemicals and cleaning materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; willingness to perform custodial and other manual tasks; and thoroughness. In addition, this position requires working knowledge of landscaping practices; care of lawn, plants and shrubbery; working knowledge of repair and maintenance of grounds keeping equipment; dependability; mechanical aptitude; and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job.

Food Service Worker

Job Summary:

The Food Service Worker position requires good knowledge of the proper methods of serving food and the care of tableware, glassware, silver and kitchen appliances; practical working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the use of cleaning supplies and appliances; ability to follow simple oral and written directions; physical strength and stamina commensurate to meet the demands of the job.

Head Building Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary:

This is difficult supervisory work involving responsibility for the efficient operation and economical maintenance of the buildings of a school district. Work is performed under the general direction of a superior, with a considerable leeway for independent judgement in individual cases. Supervision is exercised over subordinate maintenance positions.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Act as Director of Facilities and Operations in their absence.

  • Supervises and relates assignments to maintenance workers.

  • Assists in performing work in a new or complex technical nature as needed.

  • Inspects building(s) regularly and makes recommendations for improvements or new equipment.

  • Supervises and participates in the care and servicing of specialized equipment such as air conditioning systems, heating systems, plumbing systems, and related operational systems within the building.

  • Handles emergency maintenance requests personally or by assignment of crew.

    Recommends purchase of maintenance supplies.

  • May prepare operating budget estimates for maintenance activities.

  • Reviews professional contractor’s work and delivers report to Director of Facilities and Operations.

  • Keeps various records and makes reports of activities.

  • Confers with superior on operational maintenance questions.

Full Performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics:

Through knowledge of modern large-scale building and grounds maintenance practices; thorough knowledge of the practices and techniques of one or more of the standard trades; working knowledge of business arithmetic and English; ability to work from plans and specifications; ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to plan, lay out and supervise the work of others; ability to follow complex oral and written instructions; initiative; good judgement; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; and five years of progressively responsible experience in building systems maintenance, building maintenance mechanics or related field; at least two of which shall include large scale building maintenance work involving standard building trades, and at least one of which shall include supervisory experience.

Special Requirement:

Possession of a CDL-B license issued by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at time of appointment.
